Incentives motivate people.

Motivated people get things done.

Rewards are great incentives.

Therefore,

the things that get rewarded get done.

Would you like a way to help promote good behavior and discourage bad behavior?

Point Patrol is a complete behavior modification program that allows you to set up and manage a points and rewards system for people of all ages. Points can be added for good behavior and subtracted for bad behavior. Rewards can be redeemed after a set number of points are earned. This system is completely customizable for each individual's needs.

Setup is an easy 3 step process. Once you sign up for your free online membership, you can access your Point Patrol system. The three steps can be done in any order you choose.

  1. Add the actions and number of points each action is worth. This system was primarily designed for positive reinforcement to promote good behavior, however, negative reinforcement to discourage bad behavior can also be used. In other words, you can enter an action or behavior that has negative points and the points will be subtracted instead of added. For example, you could set it up so that a child will lose 50 points for lying.
  2. Add the rewards and the number of points required to redeem each reward. The rewards can be anything you believe will be a motivating incentive such as a trip to Disney World or a trip to the dollar store.
  3. Add the users. For example, you could add each child in your family or for schools, you could add each child in the class. There is an optional password field for each user. This would be especially useful in a classroom setting. The teacher would sign up for a free membership. During the registration process (or later through account maintenance), the teacher would setup a limited user name and password. The parents would be given the limited user name and password and could log in to the class's Point Patrol system where they would have rights limited to only viewing the actions, rewards and points. To access their student's points, they would select their student's name from the drop down list. If the optional password field was setup, then the parents would have to enter their student's password to view their points and rewards that have been redeemed. If the optional password was not setup, then a password would not be required to view the student's points and anyone given the class's limited user name and password could view the student's points.

Adding points - A drop down menu of all the available actions is displayed. When an action is selected, the corresponding points are added to the selected user's point list. For each user, two total are calculated. One total is for all points earned for the current date and the other total is a grand total of all the points the user has earned. If the user changes their mind or selects the wrong action, they can easily remove the action and points.

Redeeming rewards - A list of all the rewards available is displayed along with the corresponding points and a check box to redeem each award. When a checkbox is selected, the points required will be subtracted from the user's points. If the user does not have enough points, a message will be displayed informing the user of how many more points they need. If the user changes their mind or selects the wrong reward, it can be removed and the points will be added back.

View points earned and rewards redeemed - For each user, points and rewards can either be viewed for a selected date or for all dates if the date field is cleared out. (I may add a date range to view points and rewards between certain dates)

Print out a points form - To help track points when you are away from the computer, a form can be printed out with a list of all the possible actions and points. Beside each action is a space where you can place a check mark for each day of the week. The top of the form has a space for the user's name and the date for the week.

Print out a list of the actions, rewards and users - A list of all the possible actions and points and a list of all the possible rewards and points can be printed out.

Change the screen colors - The Options screen allows you to change the screen and button colors.

Backup and restore data files - The Database screen allow you to backup (export) and to restore (import) your Point Patrol databases. This feature allows you to import one of the sample tables that are available.

Membership is FREE. As long as your Point Patrol system is accessed at least once a year, it will remain active.
